Building and Infrastructure Plan
Garage – The Post is the proud new owner of a U.S. Army 1971 M35A2 cargo truck, colloquially referred to as a Deuce-and-a-Half. The Deuce came to us in a trade for the V-100 armored car that had a home in front of the Post for many decades. The V-100 was cost prohibitive to refurbish and bring up to its former glory, which was sorely needed in order to be displayed honorably. But luckily, a V-100 enthusiast group wanted it badly enough that they were willing to trade us for the Deuce-and-a-Half, which we intend to use for parades and static display purposes. In order to preserve our investment in the Deuce, she needs a garage. We’ve hired builders to construct a 24’ x 32’ garage with attic storage.
The garage will also house the Post garden tractor, chicken cooker and tools. The attic storage will replace the dilapidated shed currently on the south side of the hall.
Pavilion – The current pavilion on the east side of the hall needs replacement. As funds become available, the plan is to tear down and reconstruct the pavilion to better support outdoor activities. The new pavilion will be integrated into the current kitchen, will have bathrooms, and will be more accessible for large events in temperate weather.
Parking Lot – Many of you who have been at the Post over the last few months have gotten to experience the newly paved parking lot, that replaced the pothole filled, and much smaller parking lot. The striping for parking spaces is not ideal. When it is resealed as part of normal maintenance, striping will be redone to improve parking.
Ladies Restroom – Special thanks to Larry Rabideau for his hard work in refurbishing the ladies restroom. Everything is new. It’s a much nicer environment for the ladies now and it should last us for many years.
Self Help – As much as possible, we prefer to use members to conduct projects. This is a cost savings measure as well as creating a sense of ownership.
